Fundación Miró asked us to help them brand and improve their Friends and Patrons initiative.
The Friends party at the beginning of the summer kicked off of the project. The simplest idea was to express the bond of friendship and collaboration through the ampersand sign: an abbreviation for the latin conjunction ‘et.’ This was a simple, iconic way of conveying the idea of being together.
To develop the visual language we generated a pattern of ampersands, easy to use for all kinds of brochures and digital communication.
The invite to the party was special: we made it a collector’s piece, one which the Friends would want to keep and even hang on their walls at home. It was a gift in return for their kindness and fidelity to the foundation. We worked with Lauren Press to select 6 of their most beautiful ampersands and to hand print them in 6 limited series of 600.
On the front of the invitation, Miró’s drawings act as a signature which, through the big ampersand, is paired to the Friend’s name, handwritten by a calligrapher for the occasion.
