Blaugrana al vent
More than a club, FC Barcelona is a brand that transcends the world of sports and football. A club with fans spread all over the globe, but with core values rooted in its origins – in the city of Barcelona, in Catalonia, in red, blue, yellow and in its rich history.
Barça is an institution with more than 100 years, and in the last couple it has been reorganising its whole structure – from brand architecture to social media to merchandising, and this is where we come in.
We partnered up with FCB to reorganise, recreate and improve the products of the Barça brand, to take a step further and transform merchandising in streetwear. Barça products were and will always be objects of desire, our job was to make ‘game day’ outfits become ‘every moment’ outfits.
Imagine yourself getting in the tunnels of a completely packed Camp Nou, hearing the muffled sound of more than 90,000 fans singing. Then when the tunnel ends, you see the biggest stadium in Europe in all its greatness – the sound is not muffled no more, the pitch is right in front of you and the flags are swaying in the wind with the crest and the colours of the Fútbol Club Barcelona.
These were the feelings brought into designing these pieces: Blaugrana al vent (Blaugrana in the wind) and the sound of the chants, building the atmosphere of a football game. We designed a set of assets, combined with a colour palette that could be mixed in many ways, creating many possibilities for different kinds of medium.
