Brand identity for Murra Films, a Barcelona-based film production company.

The name Murra is the way Irish locals call Murrough Beach, on Wicklow’s famous coastline. A beach full of incredible stories of cowboys, robbers and soldiers that create what is quite a cinematic atmosphere.

The beach also reminds the Irish founder of Murra Films, Ciarán Moran, of home, having spent many days imagining these fantastic stories in Murrough when he was a child.

Ciarán asked Mucho to give the brand a new design, representing Murra’s essence and meaning.

Logo concept

The logo was inspired by stencil typography present in the names and numbers of fishing boats. Usually seen in uppercase stencil serifs, this was our starting point.

We worked on a modern stencil serif typeface incorporating smooth details that made reference to the sea, and opted for an oceanic blue for the brand.

Visual language

The brand’s visual language was created based on the movement of waves. Movements that are never repetitive, just like nature.

We created variants to apply the brand in different scales and functions, with the concept of the wave represented in the logo with type in movement for small scales. For larger scales, we created typographic compositions that form wave-like textures.

We also designed a simpler one-line version where the brand functions as a signature.
