Guillotina
Guillotina
Scale and proportion, confrontation and drama
Catalogue for Guillotina, a temporary exhibition hosted by Tecla Sala. The artist Lluís Hortalà spent more than 4 years learning the technique of trompe l’oeil to be able to create the over salient chimneys and pieces that play with the mind of the spectator.
The catalogue structure was thought of as to reflect the work of the artist. It is divided symmetrically so that the photographs placed in the centre and the text and its translations in the back and front pages. Like in Hortala’s work the presence of classic and modern binding techniques coexist in an attempt to better explain the pieces within an editorial environment. The catalogue, like his chimneys, is slightly oversized to play along with the grandiosity and the overtness of the proportions, both in the catalogue and in the works by the artist.
