Casa Sagnier is a five star boutique hotel located along Rambla Catalunya, the heart of Barcelona. Architect Enric Sagnier used this establishment as a family home and studio. Enric Sagnier is considered one of the most famous architects of the Modernist movements, alongside Gaudí, Puig I Cadafalch, and Domènech I Montaner. We have worked closely with the Casa Sagnier team to tribute this rebranding to its rich past. Being located in one of the most elegant areas of the Barcelona Eixample neighborhood, we wanted to bring its history to the present in a modern and stylish way. 

 

Typography

We designed a unique type for the hotel, combining two complementary styles. The first one is a modernism style with small caps and typographic flourishes. The second style is more industrial, with rounded terminals based on rational geometric types and typographic reproduction methods in architecture, like alphabet stencils.

Visual language

To define its visual language, we chose the colors blue, orange, gold, and white. We decided on blue based on the blueprint’s color, giving off the architectural essence. We chose orange because it creates a more contemporary look and feel to contrast with the blueprint blue. Finally, we chose gold to bring a more elegant and sophisticated vibe. Our sketch-looking illustrations are all based on Sagnier’s building, aligning with our homage to the past.

 

Cafè de l'arquitecte

Cafè de l’arquitecte is the hotel’s restaurant, offering numerous delicious foods with flavors from the Mediterranean. We filled this restaurant with designs of things you could find in an architect studio, playing up to its name and creating an architect studio atmosphere. From the plates to the wall decoration, we paid attention to detail in order to modify the restaurant.
