A New Initiative for Inclusivity: Levi Strauss & Co. Launches the LGBTQ+ Employee Resource Group (ERG) to Foster a Safe and Equitable Work Environment. Stepping up its commitment to social and civil rights, Levi Strauss & Co. aims to establish a workplace where employees feel valued, their contributions celebrated, and their identities respected, irrespective of sexual orientation or gender identity. 

The ERG serves as a beacon of support and change, promoting diversity and inclusion in the organization, and setting a new standard for corporate social responsibility.

Introduction to the Initiative

A renowned advocate for social and civil rights, Levi Strauss & Co. took the initiative to establish an ERG. The objective was to cultivate an inclusive workplace that values diversity, thus offering a safe and equitable environment for everyone, regardless of their sexual orientation or gender identity. The ERG aims to support the LGBTQ+ community and serve as a beacon of positive change.

The Challenge and The Strategy

The challenge was to encapsulate the ERG’s mission of inclusivity and authenticity into a distinct brand. It was crucial for this brand to communicate the importance of every employee’s contribution, fostering a culture where everyone can freely express their unique identities. Despite Levi’s significant history of supporting the LGBTQ+ community, the ERG sought a compelling concept and visual identity that further signified absolute inclusion and diversity.

The Solution

The ultimate solution was ‘Unlabeled’. This concept symbolizes the breakdown of societal labels and the celebration of individuality. The unique ‘un’ symbol in the typographic logotype, designed using Levi’s corporate font, encapsulates the notion of deconstructing labels. The addition of a rainbow line under this prefix brings a touch of LGBTQ+ pride. The implementation of this design inspired the creation of various impactful company messages and promotional items, effectively amplifying the spirit of the ERG throughout the organization.
