Pepe Andreu Pensando Muebles
Pepe Andreu Pensando Muebles
Thinking is doing
This book presents a selection of pieces by Pepe Andreu, a furniture designer who got his start as a cabinetmaker. Pepe’s furniture and though processes are brimming with functional details, but also show great respect for the tradition of handmade furniture. The book design needed to be an extension of this vision. Its binding, rhythm (non-linear), typography and color scheme all exude this idea of reinventing the classic and looking at traditional objects from a new angle. In the first section of the book, the pieces of his collection (in light green) are interspersed among ideas. In the last section, his work is showcased again, but this time vividly in the home setting. These photos are data cards with the specifications of the pieces. This system allows us to create new cards as Pepe’s collection grows, making the book something the designer can use to communicate with his audience.
