The design references James’ formative period working for newspapers and magazines through subtle editorial elements including vertical and horizontal lines, gridded layouts and classical typography. The colour palette was also an important consideration; warm and earthy tones establish a strong and distinct identity without dominating or overpowering James’ images. The use of extended captions provides insight into each individual portrait and commission and reinforces the storytelling theme.
James Braund Website
James Braund, an Australian photographer and close friend of Mucho, approached us to clarify his brand positioning and refresh his online portfolio. Beginning the process with a collaborative workshop, ‘story-telling’ emerged as a key theme for the project. Inspired by this creative territory, we set out to design and develop a website that both showcases the quality of his work, and provides a glimpse into the process and thinking behind each project. We immersed ourselves in James’ vast archive stretching across almost thirty years, identifying the images that encapsulate his unique approach to visual and verbal storytelling.
